Season 4 Dance Showcase 2026
saturday june 20
Showcase is one of the busiest and most exciting times at Generations!
We believe that the opportunity to perform allows dancers to develop their confidence, teamwork skills, and work ethic, all while increasing their dance technique and artistic skills. But all of this can be stressful. This page is here to help you and your family have a positive Showcase experience. Please ask us any questions you have.

HAIR CLINIC: If needed, we invite you to come early to the York Woods Library Theatre to have someone French-braid your child’s hair. Please bring your own comb, hairpins, elastics and hairspray. You must register here for a time slot, as space is limited.
First level Hair Clinic: 10:00 - 11:00 am
Novice/Youth/Teen Hair Clinic: 1:00 - 2:00 pm
We ask that all dancers arrive at the theatre with their hair done. French braid tutorial here.
All dancers aged 4 are requested to have their hair pulled back securely and neatly off the face in a slicked bun, pony tail/s, braids or cornrows.
All dancers aged 5+ are requested to have one or more French braids, corn rows or Dutch braids, tucked in at the bottom/twisted into a bun(s) using hair/bobby pins.
Dancers with bangs are encouraged to have them styled. Dancers with hair too short to be braided, we encourage you to pin and slick it securely off your face.

drop off & pick up
Drop Off: Please arrive at the York Woods Library Theatre with your performer fully dressed in costume with hair and makeup done (or ready for hair if you’re coming for the hair clinic). If your child is in more than one class, refer to the running order to note which costume they should arrive in. The drop off for the dressing rooms is at the back of the theatre building, at the door beside the loading dock. One parent/adult may bring their performer to their assigned dressing room. After you drop off your performer, please head to the audience for seating or to wait in the library or lobby. All performers are expected to stay for the entire performance. Our staff and teachers will be present with the students backstage with movies & activities provided.
Important: Both Showcases A & B will end with awards.
Medals: If your child was with us in Season 1 (2022/23), Season 2 (2023/24), or Season 3 (2024/25), your dancer will receive their year pin. All new students will receive their Generations medal.
Pickup: Parents will pick up dancers from the back door at the end of each showcase. Please use the same door for pick up as for drop off. Parents will not be permitted backstage via the stage. You may leave your belongings in the dressing room between shows.
between showcases
There are only short breaks between showcases. We request you plan ahead and either pack a meal that can be enjoyed outside the theatre, or arrange to visit an eatery nearby for a quick bite. Dancers must return by the designated call time.If you’d like your child to stay between shows, please let us know at drop off. We will have faculty on hand to supervise students. Pack extra snacks and bring an old t-shirt or cover-up for eating.
PIZZA ORDER 4 PM: As the turnaround time between the 2:30 pm and the 6:00 pm showcase is short and there’s nothing within walking distance, we will be placing a pizza order for any students & families who wish to have food ready for them at 4 pm (pizza, chips, drinks). Orders will open with the tickets on Friday, April 17, 2026.
showcase tickets
We have 230 tickets per show, with no assigned seating; there is not a bad seat in the house. Please note: Mini Dancers are ONLY in the 11:30 am showcase, and First dancers are NOT in the 6:00 pm showcase. Tickets are limited to 6 per family this year (with a few exceptions, for whom we will reach out), and you may split them up between showcases if you wish. All students will be backstage with supervision. Ticket orders will open on Friday, April 17th, at 7 am. You will receive an email with further instructions closer to the date.
Tickets are $26.50 + HST & fees to help offset the costs of putting on a wonderful showcase weekend. Children 2yrs and under who can sit on an adult’s lap are free.
video recording
Photography and videography are not permitted in the theatre.
We will film Showcases A & B to capture all dancers. Digital copies of the showcase are included in your Production fee. The digital download link will be emailed out to all families by the end of June 2025.
showcase makeup
We encourage all dancers to wear a small amount of makeup to help accentuate their features in the harsh stage lighting.
Students 7 and under recommendation: Pink lipstick.
Students 8 and up recommendation: Pink lipstick, pink blush, mascara and neutral eyeshadow.
Musical Theatre Students’ recommendation: Refer to your individual character notes from your teachers.
showcase flowers and keepsakes

Special this year: Generations Vibes T-Shirts, which you can pre-purchase for pick up at the show.
Flowers and t-shirts will go on sale Friday, April 17th, at 7 am (the same day as the tickets).
