All classes culminate in performances and celebrate a love of musical theatre. Choose the Musical Theatre Cabaret if you're looking for a fun, supportive place to build skills and perform live on stage. Choose Acting the Song if you're excited to perform solo, deepen your storytelling skills, and discover how acting can transform a song. Choose The Troupe if you have previous experience, are looking for more advanced material, a fast-paced rehearsal process, and a high level of artistic collaboration.

Mondays

🎭 Acting the Song 7:30-9:30 pm

13 Weeks, Mondays, September 14 - December 14, 2026

*limited to 12 participants (3 spots remain)

In this 13-week intensive, students will focus on the presentation and articulation of a song, as it arises from the scene and from the life of the character. You will work to balance correct vocal technique and sound production with the effort to bring truth and specificity, both to the song and to the role. 

Class material will be focused on solos (one ballad and one up-tempo with cuts) and a short duet, and is appropriate for both the professional and aspiring singing actors in whatever genre you may choose to focus your efforts (musical theatre, concert, opera). Accompanist provided. The course culminates with a showcase where participants present their pieces to friends and family.

Come prepared with your first song (memorized and with sheet music for the accompanist - reach out if you need support). The team will be ready to offer song suggestions for your second piece once they get to know you.

Final In-House Showcase: Monday, December 14, 2027.

🎶 Musical Theatre Troupe 7:30-10:00 pm

17 weeks, Mondays January 4 - May 17, 2027

For adult performers looking for a more intensive rehearsal and performance experience.

The Troupe is Generations' NEW musical theatre ensemble for performers ready to take their skills to the next level. Over 17 weeks, members work alongside an experienced creative team to create and perform a dynamic musical theatre revue. The revue will feature numbers from a wide range of Broadway styles and genres, thoughtfully selected and tailored to highlight and feature the ensemble's unique strengths. The session ends with two performances at Cake Cabaret in May 2027.

Who Will Thrive in The Troupe?

The Troupe is designed for performers looking for a challenge and who are excited to be part of a dedicated musical theatre ensemble. Members should be comfortable singing, dancing, and acting simultaneously, singing advanced harmony, retaining challenging chroeograhphy, learning material at a fast pace and refining their performances throughout the rehearsal process with directorial notes and feedback.

This program requires a strong commitment both inside and outside the studio. In addition to weekly rehearsals, members should expect to spend approximately 2–3 hours each week independently reviewing music, choreography, and notes to ensure they arrive prepared and ready to build on previous rehearsals. Consistent attendance is required, as every performer plays an important role in the success of the ensemble.

The Troupe is an excellent fit for adults with previous musical theatre, acting or vocal experience who are eager to challenge themselves in an artistically driven environment. All Troupe members will be accepted by submitting a performance resume or via teacher invitation.

For anyone looking to perform, connect, and experience the joy of being on stage in our original cabaret class.

Whether you're returning to the stage or stepping into the spotlight for the first time, this performance company is designed for adults of all experience levels. Each class thoughtfully includes dedicated skill-building time and rehearsal, allowing you to strengthen your singing, acting, and movement techniques while building confidence in a supportive and community-focused environment, with team building and connection built in.

You'll explore vocal technique, accessible harmonies, character development, storytelling, and musical theatre choreography and then put those skills into practice as you rehearse fully staged musical theatre numbers, including thoughtful featured moments for all members. Guided by a professional creative team, you'll work toward two live performances at a Cake Cabaret in May for family and friends—a celebration of your growth, creativity, and the joy of making theatre together.
